چکیده
The aim of this article is to investigate how the stress triaxiality affects plastic deformation behavior high-density polyethylene using an approach combining experiments and micromechanics-based modeling. stress-strain along with cavitation damage accumulation are experimentally quantified under well-controlled transversal response hourglass-shaped tensile specimens different curvature radii in order set triaxial states median cross-section. A constitutive elastic-plastic-damage representation then presented within a continuum-based micromechanical framework. model, constrained by same boundary conditions as experimental tests, used examine effects on separate synergistic plasticity micromechanisms that govern macro-response.

Cavitation during tensile deformation of isothermally crystallized polypropylene and high-density polyethylene
The cavitation phenomenon was studied in isothermally and non-isothermally crystallized polypropylene and high-density polyethylene. It was found that nano-voids were not present in the crystallized samples, but were formed during their tensile deformation. The process of cavitation was initiated before reaching the yield point. The ellipsoidal voids were initially elongated perpendicularly to ...

متن کاملThe effect of high-energy electron beam on drawn and undrawn high density polyethylene fibers
HDPE monofilaments were obtained using different extruders and drawn by post-extruder equipments. After solidification, drawn and undrawn monofilaments (draw ratio 7:1) were irradiated with 10 MeV electron beams in air at room temperature at 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125 kGy dose ranges to induce a network structure. HDPE crosslinking was studied on the basis of gel content measurements. The fibers w...
متن کاملConstitutive modeling of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene under large-deformation and cyclic loading conditions.
When subjected to a monotonically increasing deformation state, the mechanical behavior of UHMWPE is characterized by a linear elastic response followed by distributed yielding and strain hardening at large deformations. During the unloading phases of an applied cyclic deformation process, the response is characterized by nonlinear recovery driven by the release of stored internal energy. A num...
